Day Students

Day students comprise approximately 25% of the student body. Although day students do not live in dorms, they are incredibly involved in campus life. Most day students will stay on campus after classes and sports to eat dinner, attend various club meetings or music/play rehearsals, work on group projects, seek extra help from teachers at math/science study hall or the writing center, conduct research in the library, or simply spend time with friends. On weekends, day students often sleep over in friends' dorms, with the permission of the house counselor. On the flip side, boarders will sometimes visit their day student friends’ houses for a home-cooked meal or just to get off campus for an afternoon.

All day students are assigned to one of five residential clusters and have the opportunity to get involved in cluster social events, intramural sports, or student leadership through the cluster system. Day students also all have an academic advisor and advising group, with whom they will typically work throughout their years at Andover. This advising system provides students with support and guidance during their time at Phillips Academy. Overall, being a day student provides the opportunity to immerse oneself in life at a boarding school while remaining connected to home.
