Media Relations
ANDOVER’S POLICY ON TALKING TO THE MEDIA
The Office of Communication works with the media to promote the mission of the school and to ensure that accurate information is disseminated when reporters ask about Academy programs or events. It is the policy of the school to be open and accessible to reporters seeking information for legitimate news or feature stories about Phillips Academy. To that end, the Office of Communication occasionally asks an employee who is particularly knowledgeable about an academic subject or aspect of school life to be interviewed by a reporter.
Employees who are approached directly by reporters seeking information or interviews are asked to call or refer the reporter to the director of communication at 978-749-4313. They will verify the legitimacy of the request and refer the reporter to the appropriate sources.
The Office of Communication works to maintain the privacy of students, faculty, staff, and alumni; contacts alumni regarding media requests; and keeps records about students whose parents have requested that they not be interviewed or photographed by the media.

STUDENT MEDIA RESTRICTIONS
Each year, the Office of Communication maintains a list of students who cannot receive publicity. This list is distributed
to all departments at the beginning of the academic year.
It is the responsibility of every adult member of the community to make sure a student is not on this list before allowing them to participate in any publicity initiative (both external and internal).
Please contact us for a copy of this list or to determine if a particular student is on this list. Please note, the list cannot be shared with student(s).
