The Impact of Annual Giving
- Currently, 47 percent of Andover students receive financial aid with the average annual grant for returning students at $45,000.
- Annual gifts are especially critical because they close the gap between the school’s endowment and tuition resources and the fiscal requirements of our learning community. This gap must be met to secure Andover’s mission to educate youth from every quarter.
- The Andover Fund covers roughly 10 percent of the Academy’s operating budget. Endowment funds are often earmarked for dedicated purposes, and while we’re thrilled and grateful for them, consistent annual giving is the key to closing the funding gap. Unrestricted support helps PA thrive.

Reunion Gifts and Annual Fundraising

Reunion Giving Committees begin planning 12–18 months before a milestone reunion, developing strategies to engage classmates and maximize participation. Committees may include longtime Class Agents as well as volunteers who serve specifically for the reunion year.
During reunion years, Class Agents help inspire “stretch gifts” by leading by example and encouraging classmates to consider increased support. Multiyear pledges are a great way to make a larger impact over time—allowing donors to spread payments over two to five years while counting the full pledge amount toward the reunion gift.
Fast fact: Did you know reunion donors account for 24% of overall alumni participation on average?
Reunion Gift Crediting Policy
Any gift made to Andover is counted toward a reunion campaign, regardless of designation or priority. The reunion class gift crediting policy for those classes celebrating reunions is as follows:
- All cash gifts and new multiyear pledges made in the reunion year will be credited toward the class campaign. For new pledges, one payment must be made prior to June 30.
- Gifts or multiyear pledges made the four years before the current reunion are credited toward the overall class reunion total for the current year.
- Payments made to previously documented pledges do not count toward the reunion total.
- When spouses who are both in reunion years but in different classes make a joint reunion gift, each of their classes receives credit for the total amount of the gift.
- Alumni/ae celebrating their 50th reunion and beyond receive full face value reunion gift credit for charitable gift annuities and documented bequest intentions.
- Alumni/ae who make an irrevocable planned gift, regardless of age, receive full face value reunion gift credit (e.g., gift annuities, trusts).
Reunion Gift Calculation
Previous four years of new commitments
+ Current year gifts
+ Pledges
+ Planned Gifts (if 65+)
= Total Reunion Gift

Donor Recognition Societies
In your volunteer work as a class agent, you may get to share the recognition societies that your friends can join in your outreach. Here are some details.
Bulfinch Loyalty Society
Named for one of Andover’s oldest and most revered buildings, the Bulfinch Loyalty Society recognizes and celebrates consistent supporters. The society welcomes those who give to Andover in any amount for two or more consecutive years. These annual gifts are crucial to the success of the Academy, helping to sustain Andover’s commitment to providing high quality education for its students.
Non Sibi Circle
The Non Sibi Circle recognizes all annual donors who give $1,778 or more to honor Andover’s founding year and to address the Academy’s most pressing needs. Leadership giving starts at the $10,000 giving level and unlocks new member benefits. Support from Non Sibi Circle members is the foundation of Phillips Academy’s future. Perhaps most critical, this support supplements endowment income and tuition, helps preserve need-blind admission, and ensures our ability to attract and retain talented and diverse faculty.
