Athletic Recruitment
Student athletes interested in pursuing college sports should first speak with their Andover coaches to assess their abilities and discuss potential pathways to Division I, II or III athletic programs. If you play sports at the club level, asking for feedback from your club coach will also be an important part of your recruiting process. In general, coaches will be the best resource for understanding which type of college athletic landscape would be best for you. Your coaches may advise you to:
- Explore the websites of specific college programs
- Complete athletic questionnaires for specific colleges
- Make a highlight film and/or an athletic resume
- Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center (if you intend to play at the Division I or II level)
- Reach out to coaches of college programs you might be interested in
- Attend showcases or prospect days where college coaches
Athletes and their families are encouraged to attend the “College Athletics Panel,” an annual webinar hosted each fall by the College Counseling Office in partnership with the Athletics Department. This hour-long webinar in late fall includes a panel of colleges coaches and admissions experts sharing expertise about the athletic recruiting process. Refer to CCO communications for webinar time and date and/or Media Space to access a recording of the event.
Student athletes who have already been contacted by college coaches before being assigned a counselor are invited to the College Counseling Office during any conference period to talk with a counselor about their specific process.
NCAA Eligibility
Those intending to compete at the Division I or II level will be required to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center by the spring of 11th grade to begin the certification process with the NCAA. For more information, please visit the NCAA Eligibility Center website.
