For 11th-Grade Families

The eleventh-grade year is a pivotal time in the college counseling journey. It’s a year of exploration, when students begin to discover the wide range of college options available to them and gradually transition toward preparing for the application process in senior fall.

The college counseling process officially begins in December when students are assigned a counselor, and we launch programming tailored specifically for eleventh-grade students and their families. Our goal is to support and empower students and families throughout this exciting chapter by providing timely, relevant information and resources.

11th-grade families and students can expect the following programming from the CCO:

  • College fairs in the fall and spring
  • Fall group meeting for students that provides information about our college counseling curriculum and timeline
  • Family Weekend presentation for families with an overview of the college counseling curriculum and timeline
  • One-on-one meetings between students and their college counselor begin in January and continue through the end of the spring term
  • Winter and spring group meetings for students that delve deeper into the college search and application process
  • Spring focus group meetings tied to a particular interest or priority such as the Arts, Athletics, Applying to British Universities, and Financial Aid
  • Spring webinar on College Financing for all families
  • Individualized evaluation of each student’s college list in June
  • Newsletters and email communications for families where we share updates on student programming
