Summer Session & Outreach

Phillips Academy supports a number of programs that provide educational opportunities to students beyond those who attend the Academy during the regular school year.

These programs range from our Summer Session, which serves more than 600 students from grades 8-12, to our IRT program, which serves 100 undergraduate students interested in pursing advanced degrees in the field of education. Click on the links below to learn more.

Youth Study Programs

Summer Session

A five-week boarding and day school experience for students in grades 9-12 with ambitious educational goals. The Lower School Institute is a new program embedded within Summer Session that is designed for rising 8th graders. >>

Provides science and math education to students from economically disadvantaged urban areas around the country over the course of three consecutive summers. >>

PALS

With the help of PA students, PALS provides year-round educational and mentoring support for 7th and 8th grade students from low income families in our neighboring town of Lawrence, Massachusetts. >>

Institute for the Recruitment of Teachers

IRT seeks to bring more ethnic and racial diversity to the teaching profession by helping talented college students interested in a career in education through the graduate school application process. >>

Andover Bread Loaf Writing Workshop

ABL works with public and private school teachers to enhance the teaching and learning of writing and to help catalyze educational renewal in classrooms, schools, and communities. >>
