The (MS)2 application deadline for Summer 2018 has passed. Check back next fall for the link to the Summer 2019 application. 

(MS)2 accepts African American, Hispanic/Latino, and Native American students who have completed one full year of algebra by June and are currently in the 9th grade in the following city public school districts: Atlanta; Baltimore; Boston; Chicago; Cleveland; Fort Worth, Texas; Lawrence, Mass.; Louisville, Ky.; Memphis, Tenn.; and New York City, as well as Washington, D.C. Native American students may apply from any geographic area of the United States. All candidates must have a demonstrated financial need.

Step 1: Request Information

All prospective (MS)2 students must complete an inquiry form and be added to our mailing list.

Step 2: Submit Application

The online application includes:

  • Applicant Information
  • Household Information
  • School Information
  • Applicant Essays
  • Recommendations (Guidance Counselor, Math, Science, and English Teacher)
  • Financial Aid Form (Income Verification)

Step 3: Complete Math Assessment

Once (MS)2 receives all the required application materials, we will email you a link to the online math assessment.

Step 4: Conduct Finalist Interview

Applicants will be notified by email in mid-February if they are program finalists. Finalists are invited for personal interviews in their local cities or via Skype; parents and guardians are encouraged to attend.

Admissions Notification 

Finalists will be notified of admission decisions by email the first week of April. Admission is based, in part, on the candidate’s academic achievement to date, strong interest in mathematics and science, recommendations, personal desire and motivation, and demonstrated financial need.
