I love to teach, but I am not good at talking about myself. Instead, I'll talk about one of my former students: In my first year of teaching, at the Westminster Schools, a Christian day school in Atlanta, I taught regular geometry. A reserved young woman started the year afraid of math. We met almost every conference period for the entire year. She ended the year with a high B. I was so proud of her accomplishment and thrilled at her new-found confidence! At the graduation ceremony three years later, she mouthed "thank you" to me as she walked to the podium to accept her diploma. Teaching counts.
