Gene Hughes

I began my career as a public school teacher and coach in my home state of South Carolina in 1998. In 2004, I received a fellowship from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I spent 7 years as a Graduate Student and Teaching Fellow, specializing in sixteenth-century French literature. After a one-year stint as Visiting Assistant Professor of French at Allegheny College, I joined the faculty here as Instructor of French in 2012. I enjoy sports and have coached track, football, and basketball here at PA. My wife and I live in Tucker House, a dormitory housing 16 boys here on campus.
