Ei Smith

Landscapes and their nuances within the global context have always been a passion of mine and I strive to live a life that allows me to see more of their intricacies. I completed my doctoral and master's degrees in Toronto, Canada and worked closely with the refugee and immigrant diaspora from Burma to gain understanding of their material cultures, gendered relations and negotiation with political borders. I am currently a National Geographic explorer who is interested in the transnational ways to foster belonging and a sense of home. My experience of teaching at York University in Toronto, The Pike School and Andover Public Schools inspired me to pursue a Master's of Education. I enjoy traveling, reading novels and fashion magazines and following figure skating. I am a house counselor in Fuess House, am an academic advisor and help out with JV Girls Hockey and Crew.
