Colin Phelan
Mr. Phelan chose to work at PA because he deeply believes in the school's mission and values. During his interviews with PA, Mr. Phelan strongly sensed that PA's faculty, administration, and broader community genuinely lived and worked according to the school's outlined principles. Mr. Phelan is determined to help each student discover their best self -- both in the classroom and beyond it.
Prior to coming to PA, Mr. Phelan taught at schools in both New England and in India. Although he is trained as historian of modern South Asia, Mr. Phelan feels equally excited to teach classes about American history and broader global histories. In the classroom, Mr. Phelan encourages students to engage in frequent and active reflection, collaborate and innovate, and expand their empathy, cultural sensitivity, and global-orientation.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Phelan loves spending time outdoors, exploring new places, and working on his foreign language skills. Whenever possible, he travels to North India -- particularly to his favorite places, Delhi and the Uttarakhand Himalaya.
