New Dean of Faculty appointed
Ben Temple will begin his new role in July 2025Deputy Head of School Merrilee Mardon announced today that Ben Temple will become the next Dean of Faculty at Phillips Academy. Temple is currently head of the Upper School at Francis Parker School in San Diego. He has experience in both day and boarding independent schools, beginning his career at Salisbury School (CT) in 2002. Over the past 23 years, Temple has served as a teacher, mentor, and leader at a wide array of institutions, including Tatnall School, Westtown School, the Global Online Academy, the Blake School, and the Collegiate School.
“Ben is a thoughtful leader and strategic thinker, who was drawn to Andover because of our core values and our intentionally diverse community,” Mardon said. “I am confident in his ability to learn about Andover’s complex systems and to work with all of us to continue to improve the ways we care for our students. Ben brings many strengths to this role—perhaps most importantly, his deep experience as an educator, his empathy, and his demonstrated ability to navigate complicated ecosystems.”
Temple will begin his new role in July 2025 and looks forward to moving with his family to the east coast: "I am so excited to join the Andover community and be part of this remarkable learning environment.”
Temple earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Brown University and master’s degree in educational leadership from the Klingenstein Center, Teachers College at Columbia University. He will live on campus with his wife, Erika, and their three children.
