Gendler Peace Circle dedicated

Contemplative space honors the spirit of PA’s first Jewish chaplain

Andover proudly dedicated the Gendler Peace Circle on September 20. The contemplative space near Cochran Chapel honors the spirit of Rabbi Everett Gendler P’83, ’86, PA’s first Jewish chaplain, and was made possible through the generosity of alumni and community members who knew and loved this remarkable campus icon. Every exchange of ideas, every meaningful conversation within the memorial’s granite spiral, carries forward his legacy of equity, inclusion, and the power of civil discourse.

“Everett Gendler knew peace is not a destination. It’s a process,” said Rabbi Joshua Greenberg, PA’s current Jewish chaplain. “So it’s fitting that this space in nature—a place to gather, share, listen, and reflect—will inspire future generations to come together in the same spirit that Rabbi Gendler so cherished.”

Everett was open in every way to the world and its possibilities and committed to opening up the eyes of all of us to the world and its possibilities.
