The Palfrey Scholarship

Campaign cochairs launch head of school tribute

John Palfrey has long championed the value of financial aid and Andover’s unrivaled commitment to need-blind admission. Now, with the lead of the Knowledge & Goodness campaign cochairs, his name will be forever linked to this most enduring of Academy ideals.

The John G. Palfrey Scholarship honors his successful seven-year tenure as head of school as Palfrey P’21, ’23, departs to become president of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. The endowed scholarship will benefit talented and deserving students beginning this fall thanks to leadership gifts from Joe Bae ’90, P’21, ’23; Peter Currie ’74, P’03; and Amy Falls ’82, P’19, ’21.

“John has always led by example,” says Currie. “Our entire Andover community—from students and faculty to alumni and parents—has benefited from his strategic vision and sense of justice as well as his warmth and compassion.”

All are invited to celebrate John Palfrey’s impact and support his namesake scholarship at www.andover.edu/ForPalfrey.
