Big Blue tops Exeter

Year 142 is another to remember in the rivalry’s rich history
by David Fricke

The Andover varsity soccer, volleyball, field hockey, and football teams traveled to Exeter to renew the country’s oldest prep school rivalry this past weekend. Accompanied by a large Big Blue fan base that outnumbered Big Red supporters in the stands, Andover secured victories in Football (14-13), girls’ soccer (1-0), and field hockey (3-0); boys’ soccer tied (1-1) while girls’ volleyball lost 0-3.

Away from Exeter, boys’ water polo, fell, 7-8 to Suffield in the play-in game at the “Liquid Four”, hosted by the Brunswick School.

No strangers to the post-season podium, Andover’s cross-country teams both placed again at the New England Championships.

The girls’ team finished in third place with Natalia Muromcew ’22 earning 4th place and an All-Star selection.

The boys’ squad raced to second place, anchored by Chris Ratcliffe ’20 (4th place) and Alex Fleury (7th), who both earned All-New England honors.
