Memorial Service for Faculty Emerita Audrey Bensley

Services will be held at Cochran Chapel on Saturday, November 18, at 11 a.m.

The Academy mourns the loss of Audrey “Naut” Bensley, art and ceramics instructor at Abbot Academy and Phillips Academy from 1965 to 1995. Bensley died Friday, October 27, 2017, at her home at Edgewood Retirement Community in North Andover after a long battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was 87.

Services will be held at Cochran Chapel on Saturday, November 18, at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a reception at the Addison Gallery of American Art.

Predeceased by her husband, Faculty Emeritus Gordon “Diz” Bensley ’43, and son Peter ’71, Audrey Bensley is survived by two sons, Chris ’76 of Andover, Mass., and Zach ’88 of Hamilton, Mass.; two daughters, Wendy Percival ’69 of Apia, Samoa, and Jennifer Eskioglou ’78 of Athens, Greece; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

An obituary will appear in the winter 2018 issue of Andover magazine.
