To Apply for Financial Aid
Policy for Those Applying for Financial Aid from Cities/Towns within our Day Student Boundaries:
As you are aware, students from certain cities/towns are able to choose whether to apply to Phillips Academy as day students or as boarding students. Your choice is a one-time-only option that must be made when the application is submitted to the admission office.
However, if you reside in a nearby city/town and are also applying for financial aid, please understand that your financial aid award will be predicated on the day student tuition and will not include the additional cost associated with being a boarding student. You are, of course, welcome to apply as a boarding student, but your family will be responsible for the additional tuition necessary for you to live on campus if you are admitted and choose to enroll at Phillips Academy.
Students residing in Andover or North Andover must apply as day students. Applicants from the following Massachusetts cities/towns have a choice: Boxford, Bradford, Dracut, Georgetown, Groveland, Haverhill, Lawrence, Lowell, Lynnfield, Methuen, Middleton, North Reading, Reading, Tewksbury, and Wilmington, and also Atkinson, Pelham, Plaistow, and Salem, New Hampshire.
If, upon further consideration, you would like to change the residential status of your application from boarding to day or if you have questions about the policy, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.
Families apply for financial aid at the same time students submit applications for admission. A completed financial aid application consists of the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) and subsequent forms for income verification such as W-2s and the most recent Income Tax Return.
