TRAVEL AND TRANSPORTATION

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION REGARDING TRAVEL PLANNING

Travel to Phillips Academy

Families are required to make their own travel arrangements to and from campus and communicate those plans to the Andover Summer office via our Transportation Form, which becomes available through our Family Portal on April 1, 2025. The Transportation Form must be completed by June 15, 2025. We suggest that travel plans be arranged well in advance to adjust for changes in travel schedules necessitated by increased security and less frequent flights.

Families are responsible for arranging ground transportation to campus from the airport for their child as Andover Summer is not able to provide airport transportation services on arrival or departure day1. Additionally, families should ensure they have made proper arrangements for unaccompanied minor service (if required by the airline). For your reference, a link to the U.S. Department of Transportation Unaccompanied Minor policies can be found by clicking here.

The closest international airport to Andover is Logan International Airport, which is approximately 27miles/43km from the campus.

International Students

Those students and families traveling from great distances are welcome to arrive to campus on Monday, June 30 for international student arrival day. Students and their families will complete the registration and arrival process in our Snyder Athletic Center between the hours of 10am and 4pm

Domestic and Day Students

All domestic and day students are welcome to arrive on Tuesday, July 1. This includes students arriving on shorter domestic flights, day students, and those arriving by car. Students and their families will complete the registration and arrival process in our Snyder Athletic Center between the hours of 10am and 4pm.

Detailed information about the arrival and registration process will be shared in email correspondence sent directly to students and their families.

Any student who is not able to arrive during the designated arrival date(s) and time(s) as listed above must make arrangements and get approval directly from the Andover Summer office by emailing [email protected].

End-of-Session Travel from Phillips Academy

Students may choose to depart from campus on either Saturday, August 2 or Sunday, August 3. You will indicate your preferred departure date on the Transportation Form mentioned above. As with arrival, families are responsible for making travel arrangements from campus for their child on departure day as well as arranging unaccompanied minor services (if required by the airline).

Saturday, August 2

Students may depart campus on Saturday, August 2 after our closing ceremony and between the hours of 11:00am and 7:00pm.

Sunday, August 3

All remaining students must depart campus by Sunday, August 3 no later than 2:00pm. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Transportation Services Available for Students

As a courtesy, a list of local companies available to assist you and your child with transportation to/from Logan Airport in Boston is provided in the Upper and Lower School Blue Books. Some of these companies are also available to provide unaccompanied minor service.

  • Students with symptoms of respiratory illness are expected to isolate until fever has subsided along with symptoms of virus. The length of time varies depending upon illness.
