Fernando Alonso

Ferd Alonso joined Andover in 2005 as director of the Mathematics and Science for Minority Students program. He also served as a house counselor and an instructor in mathematics. He has been a teacher and administrator for more than 24 years and has held positions in his native Puerto Rico at his alma mater—Baldwin School—as well as at Westtown School in Pennsylvania and the Hotchkiss School in Connecticut.

Alonso was appointed dean of administration and finance in 2016 following seven years as director of Andover Summer Session and the school’s outreach programs. He was promoted to assistant head/CFO in 2018. He is a member of the Association of Business Officers of Preparatory Schools (ABOPS), the Association of Independent Schools of New England (AISNE), the National Business Officers Association (NBOA) and the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).

He earned a B.S. in material science engineering from Cornell University and his M.Ed. in school administration from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
