Chandri Navarro ’82

Chandri Navarro is an international trade lawyer and Partner in the Washington, DC office of Hogan Lovells US LLP (formerly Hogan & Hartson LLP), a global law firm with over 2,500 lawyers in over 40 offices in the United States, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia. For over 25 years, Chandri has provided advice to companies, trade associations and foreign governments on international trade and customs law matters as well as legislation and lobbying.  She has served as Executive Director of an apparel trade association of the major U.S. apparel companies and was a State Department Security-cleared industry advisor to the U.S. Government during various trade negotiations in China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Brazil, among many other countries. She was appointed to the Cotton Board for a three-year term by the US Secretary of Agriculture and currently sits on the Board of Directors of the US-Colombia Free Trade Agreement rice trading company.

A native of Panama, Chandri graduated from Phillips Academy, where she was a Blue Key, in the AFLATAM, played varsity soccer, and performed with the ballet and flamenco dance groups. Chandri’s oldest daughter, graduated from Phillips Academy in 2015, and is the fourth generation to attend the school, as Chandri’s mother is an Abbot Academy graduate of 1955. Chandri attended law school at the Washington College of Law of American University, and graduated from the College of William and Mary, concentrating her studies in international affairs, international economics and dance. She also studied at the Sorbonne and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po) in Paris, France. She is a Member of the Board of Directors of the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS), the largest nonprofit organization representing the brain tumor community. She is also a past member and President of the Board of Directors of the World Children’s Choir based in the metropolitan Washington, DC area.
