Phillips Academy Trustees elect new leadership

Eric Zinterhofer ’89, P’18, ’19 to become board president July 1

Amy Falls ’82, P’19, ’21, president of the Phillips Academy Board of Trustees, announced today that Eric Zinterhofer ’89, P’18, ’19, of New York City will succeed her as board president. A trustee since 2016, Zinterhofer will take the leadership post on July 1. He is currently chairing the search for Andover’s next head of school.

Falls, the first woman president of the board, has served since 2019.  A member of the board since 2012, she will finish her term on June 30.

In another first, Falls announced that Christopher Auguste ’76, P’09, ’12, of New York City, will become the board’s vice president. This is the first time that trustees have elected a vice president. Auguste and Zinterhofer both received unanimous support from fellow charter trustees.

“With the election of a president and vice president, the board has taken great care to ensure a smooth transition, while also focusing on Andover’s future,” said Falls. “Eric will continue to chair the Head of School Search Committee, which includes campus and board representation. We are thrilled to have his steady leadership in the boardroom and guiding this search.”

“We are also grateful to have Chris serve as the inaugural vice president,” Falls continued, “a role that was envisioned in the board’s recent governance review and which recognizes the increasing complexity and scope of the Academy and its role in global education.”
