A dramatic overture

New Falls Music Center hits all the right notes

Falls Music Center triumphantly opened its doors on January 6, 2025—the same day students and faculty resumed classes after winter break. Just two days later, the Andover and Cornell University orchestras played side by side, filling the state-of-the-art John Barry Performance Hall with bold, rich, harmonious sound. (Listen to their rehearsal below.)

The 32,700-square-foot facility, which includes 19 practice rooms, an extensive music library, an electronic music studio, two technology labs, and a stunning interior court that invites spontaneous jam sessions, has quickly become a hub of activity for classes, rehearsals, recitals, and live performances. Stay tuned for details about the Academy Orchestra’s performance on February 28 featuring a world premiere by Quinn Mason

When the two orchestras played side by side—150 musicians—it was an amazing testament to what this space makes possible.
