Art commemorates anniversary

Two new art installations created by Jennifer Cecere ’69 will be installed on campus this spring.

Two large-scale art installations by Jennifer Cecere ’69 will soon adorn campus as a way to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Abbot Academy and Phillips Academy becoming a single institution.

Constructed of white laser-cut aluminum, the two works of art feature a lace pattern representing a doily. Cecere’s art highlights domestic activities, such as knitting and crocheting, which are primarily creative outlets for women and are often overlooked.

Abbot Doily Bench is 9x5x8-feet and will reside on the Abbot campus; Women’s Work is 20 feet in diameter and will hang on the façade of the Addison Gallery. Both will be installed on campus this spring.
