October 11, 2023 Standardized Testing
Registration for the PSAT will run from Thursday, August 31 through midnight on Sunday, September 10 for PA Uppers. Students will be sent a registration link and will register via a Google doc managed by the Standardized Testing Office.
Testing will take place in Snyder Center
Wednesday, October 11
7:45 a.m. until approximately 12 p.m.
Cost $28
This test will be a digital exam taken on a student-owned device such as a MAC, laptop or iPad. Students will download a College Board-specific testing application. A Phillips Academy Technology Coordinator will be available to registered students for test application instillation, device readiness checks and on test day. Test Day Instructions:
Breakfast will be available from Commons starting at 7 a.m.
Students should arrive at the Snyder Center by 7:45am. Seating charts will be posted in the lobby.
What to Bring on PSAT/NMSQT Test Day
- Approved Photo ID
- Your fully charged device. You must have the app installed and exam setup complete before test day if you're testing with a personal device.
- A power cord and/or a portable charger. We cannot guarantee you’ll have access to an outlet during testing. Your device should be able to hold a charge for 3–4 hours.
- A pencil or pen.
- Scratch paper will be provided—do not bring your own.
- An approved calculator. There’s a graphing calculator built into the app, but you can bring your own if you like.
- An external mouse if you use one.
- An external keyboard if you use one (you can only use external keyboards with tablets—not laptops.)
Nice to Have
- A watch (without an audible alarm)
- Extra batteries for your calculator and backup equipment—you'll have to ask for permission to access them. They can’t be on your desk during the test.
- A bag or backpack.
- A drink or snacks (for your break).
Parents are not allowed in the testing building at any time. Students can only be dismissed when the test finishes. The PSAT exam ends at approximately 12:00 p.m. Students may not be dismissed early.
