Macuco Quintet on Concert

3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., Timken Room, Graves Hall

The Phillips Academy Music Department presents the Macuco Quintet in concert in the Timken Room of Graves Hall on Sunday, March 31 at 3:00 p.m. The Boston-based jazz group plays original compositions, as well as pieces by the Brazilian composer Hermeto Pascoal, that draw on Brazilian & Caribbean rhythms, multiple-saxophone harmonies, and playful melodies. Unconcerned with fitting into any one category, they embrace musical adventure, experimentation, and fun.

Macuco Quintet was formed in 2014 by Joel Springer (of Your Neighborhood Saxophone Quartet) and has performed in Cambridge, Somerville, Andover, and Nashua, NH. Their debut CD, Friendly Signs, was released in 2018. The members of Macuco Quintet are saxophonists Joel Springer, Allan Chase, and Rick Stone, bassist Fernando Huergo, and drummer Austin McMahon

This event is free and open to the public.

Graves Hall is accessible. For further information, please contact the Music Department at (978) 749-4260 or email
