Join us on Gooch's Beach in Kennebunk, ME at the Special Surfers July Event and share the empowering experience of surfing with children and young adults with special needs. Volunteers can choose to get wet or stay dry, there are several volunteer roles to choose from! Please choose a role that begins at 4:30 p.m. Join the group after the event for an optional self pay dinner at a casual restaurant nearby! Volunteers must register with Special Surfers and sign the waiver, instructions will be included in your Andover confirmation email. Special Surfers registration opens on June 11th.

Dress for the beach and bring water bottles, sunscreen, and a snack!
Andover will be volunteering as part of a larger event that welcomes members of the public. Parking along the side streets near the beach is allowed without a permit. The town of Kennebunk waives the parking permit requirement from 3:00 p.m. on, so beach parking is okay for all. Group meeting location and other details will be provided closer to the event date.
Special Surfers is a non-profit organization (501(c)3) that provides the opportunity for people with special needs to surf. There is no cost to participants or their families, and all equipment and instruction is provided. Special Surfer events are held once a month in June, July, and August at Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunk, Maine. There are hundreds of special surfers and volunteers at each event providing a real sense of community and accomplishment for all.
