Did you know that before track superstar Jesse Owens dominated global headlines by winning four gold medals at the 1936 Olympics, he was a scholar-athlete at Ohio State University?

Indeed, many of the groundbreaking Black athletes who famously defied racism and discrimination as professionals in their sport first battled these same forces on their college campuses as scholar-athletes. In his presentation, Tamrat Gavenas reveals the untold stories and legacies of the educational experiences, aspirations, and struggles of Black college student-athletes, historically and today.
