A native of Methuen, MA, MAJ Hanson Causbie earned a BS from the United States Military Academy in 2012 and was commissioned as an Aviation officer. After completion of flight training in the AH-64D Apache, he reported to Fort Bragg, NC and served for three years as a platoon leader and operations officer in 1-82 Attack Reconnaissance (ARB), 82nd Airborne Division, including a combat deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Freedom’s Sentinel. After completion of the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course at Fort Benning, GA, he reported to Fort Carson, CO, and assumed command of Alpha Company, 4-4 ARB, 4th Infantry Division, and led the company on a deployment to Iraq and Syria in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Upon returning, he transitioned to the Army Reserve and earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. During his time in the Army Reserve, he has served as an Assistant Professor of Military Science, staff officer with Headquarters Department of the Army at the Pentagon, and currently as an Inspector General with Army Reserve Legal Command.
In his civilian career, Causbie is an Associate at Hogan Lovells Cadwalader in Washington, DC, where his practice focuses on aviation law and emerging drone technology. Prior to his time at Hogan Lovells Cadwalader he clerked for Chief Judge Kevin A. Ohlson at the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. He lives in Northern Virginia with his wife and two children.
