Shakespeare's Hamlet

The Phillips Academy Department of Theatre and Dance is pleased to present their spring play, Shakespeare’s Hamlet, directed by Kevin Heelan. Needing no introduction, Hamlet is regularly considered to be in the highest tier of Western Literature, and still today remains one of the most influential and important plays ever written. Diving deep into themes of honor, revenge, power, corruption, responsibility, and many more, Hamlet is sure to leave a lasting emotional and thought-provoking impact. The tale revolves around Prince Hamlet and the revenge he vows on his Uncle Claudius who took his father’s place as the King of Denmark. Ranking high even within the rest of Shakespeare’s own incomparable set of works, Hamlet stands alone as an indispensable and essential work of art that continues to define and inspire culture.

The cast of Hamlet includes Isabella Berkeley ’19, Paige Busse ’19, Emiliano Caceres Manzano ’22, Celine Cheung ’19, Matthew Cline ’19, Riley Gillis ’19, Harry Kahane ’20, Sam Katz ’19, Brian Ko ’19, Phillip Ko ’22, William Locke ’19, Faith Monahan ’20, Carly Pearlson ’21, Celeste Robinson ’22, and Alice Rogers ’19. Hamlet is stage managed by Carley Kukk ’19, assistant directed by Emma Cancro ’19, and features set design by Brad Seymour and lighting and costume designs by Billy Murray.

Performances of Hamlet include a free open dress rehearsal for seniors and faculty on Thursday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. and ticketed performances on Friday, May 24 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Steinbach Theatre. Tickets are $5 each and may be reserved through the PA box office at 978-749-4433. Box Office hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Fridays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
