Ultimate relies upon a spirit of sportsmanship that places
the responsibility for fair play on the player. Highly competitive
play is encouraged, but never at the expense of mutual respect
among players, adherence to the agreed upon rules of the game,
or the basic joy of play. Protection of these vital elements
serves to eliminate adverse conduct from the Ultimate field.
Such actions as taunting of opposing players, dangerous aggression,
belligerent intimidation, intentional fouling, or other win-at-all-costs
behavior are contrary to the spirit of the game and must be
avoided by all players. (UPA Official Rules of Ultimate, version
10.1)

The Ultimate program at Andover consists of a competitive
team that plays against other open and co-ed high school teams
in New England. At the start of each season, a great deal
of emphasis is placed on developing good sportsmanship and
learning the rules of the game. Players are also taught methods
of throwing and catching and are introduced to offensive and
defensive strategies. The team practices ninety-minutes each
day and plays games on Wednesdays and weekends. Andover competes
in the New England Prep School Ultimate League (NEPSUL) and
the New England High School Ultimate League (administered
by The Boston Ultimate Disc Alliance).
Students who are interested in learning more about the Ultimate
program at Andover should contact Coach Hoenig.
