Lacrosse - Boys V
Each year, Andover plays the best teams among public and private schools from throughout New England. In addition to the traditional varsity and junior varsity teams, the school fields a third, "no-cut" JV2 team, all of which compete at the interscholastic level. The varsity and junior varsity teams play 14 games with contests taking place on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The JV2 team, with its emphasis on fundamentals instruction, plays about 6 contests per spring. The varsity team plays at least one night game each season under the Brothers Field lights. The highlight of the season is always the final game against Phillips Exeter Academy.
The Andover/Exeter rivalry is one of the most storied traditions in secondary school athletics and certainly an unforgettable experience for the players, coaches and spectators. Throughout the years, numerous Andover lacrosse players have been recognized with All-American and All-League honors, many of whom play in the annual New England Prep East/West game each June. Many graduates go on to play at the collegiate level, particularly in the New England Small College (NESCAC) and Ivy leagues.
