Big Blue Baseball: Back-to-Back Central New England Champs

third baseWith a tradition of strong effort, good sportsmanship, top competition, and positive team experience, Phillips Academy’s baseball program includes a varsity and two junior varsity teams in the spring, each with its own field and interscholastic schedule. Our varsity team plays in the very competitive Central New England Prep School Baseball League and has earned league championship honors in 1995, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2007, 2008, 2012, and 2013. At all three levels we emphasize enjoyment of the game as well as development. Many of our former players have taken both their love of the game and their skills to the collegiate level with considerable success in such programs as Princeton, Bowdoin, Brown, Michigan State, University of Chicago, Penn State, Georgetown, Lafayette, Amherst, Bates, Holy Cross, Wesleyan, Boston College, Davidson, Trinity, Tufts, Emory, and Pomona.

Baseball in New England requires an indoor start, and our indoor facility, Case Memorial Cage, includes a batting tunnel, three portable pitching mounds, and space for a full infield. Outside, our teams benefit greatly from batting tunnels and pitching machines at both varsity and JV practice areas. Most of our games during April and May are on Wednesdays and Saturdays with the varsity playing doubleheaders on most Saturdays. The Andover varsity plays its home games at Phelps Park, an outstanding field in a beautiful baseball setting.

Phillips Academy baseball coaches at all levels are eager to share their enthusiasm for the game with talented student-athletes who combine the desire to improve as individuals with the commitment to contribute to a team effort.
