Caroline Nolan

The inaugural director of the Tang Institute at Andover, Caroline joined Phillips Academy in October 2013. Prior to that, she was associate director of the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, where she launched, led, and contributed to a wide range of interdisciplinary initiatives and partnerships focused on topics at the intersection of new technologies, free expression and privacy, education, and other issues.

Caroline earned a BA degree from Brown University and an MA degree in international affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. While attending Fletcher, she worked as a researcher for Reebok’s human rights department. She has also worked for the Boston Consortium on Gender, Security and Human Rights and for Pathfinder International. During her first career, she was a sous chef at Rialto restaurant in Cambridge, Mass.
