A Conversation between Ai-jen Poo '92 and Dan Koh '03

Thursday, May 19, 2022
7 p.m. ET

Ai-jen Poo, Executive Director, National Domestic Workers Alliance, and Dan Koh ’03, Chief of Staff at U.S. Department of Labor, will engage in a conversation around a variety of topics that will include early influences on your career in public service, and defining moments of failure and success. This discussion may also include their relationship to their AAPI identity, how they’ve dealt with its complexities (i.e., microaggressions, intersectional issues, stereotypes), and the impact of Andover on their journey.

Following the formal program, there will be an opportunity for alumni to gather in breakout rooms for fellowship.

Background
Last spring, the AAPI alumni community of Andover gathered to support one another in the face of unprecedented violence and racism against Asians and Asian Americans during the global pandemic. The impact of COVID-19 continues to be felt by members of the community, ranging from rising anti-Asian sentiment, the economic strain placed on Asian-owned businesses, and the daily struggles of those on the frontlines as well as those who work tirelessly and often in substandard conditions in our homes. We hope this virtual opportunity to come together will continue the meaningful conversation started last year to nurture bonds of affinity, inclusion, and understanding of the AAPI alumni community and our larger Andover family. We hope to see you there.
