October 20, 2021 Academic Calendar
Wednesday, October 20th, at 1:30 p.m. EDT: Join us for Season 3, Episode 6 of the Peabody Diggin’ In series, “Disability and Ableism in Archaeology,” with guest speaker, Dr. Laura Heath-Stout.
At first glance, you might not think there are many disabled archaeologists. After all, archaeologists do fieldwork around the world, in all kinds of weather and terrain, on sites that are rarely wheelchair-accessible. Yet, many archaeologists are disabled, many of us with non-apparent disabilities that allow us to hide in plain sight. In this talk, I will discuss how systemic ableism shapes the demographics of the field and our ways of understanding the human past, and current efforts to build a more inclusive and accessible archaeology. Please sign up for this webinar at our new online registration page.
