The Gay-Straight Alliance at Phillips Academy is the second oldest GSA in the country. Our club functions as both a support network for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students and as an advocacy organization for GLBT issues. We run weekly meetings, social gatherings and events for all gay, bisexual, transgender, lesbian and straight students. Our events include guest speakers, discussion forums, film and documentary showings, as well as one of the most popular annual dances at Phillips Academy. We proudly participate in the Boston Youth Pride march every spring.
We celebrated our 20th Anniversary in 2008-2009 by hosting a multi-school weekend conference (please visit our archived conference page for more information). We also brought a photo exhibit of out GLBT high school and college athletes to campus. Additionally, students performed “The Laramie Project” in conjunction with a visit by Judy Shepard, mother of Matt and founder of the Matthew Shepard Foundation.
We are proud to have a diverse membership, including many straight allies, and are looking forward to more exciting activities in the coming year. Welcome!
