The
Phillips Academy Computer Center (PACC), located
in the library's lower level, is the academy's primary
computing facility. Open over 70 hours per week, the
PACC is available to students for their individual
use, while teachers use the computer classrooms for
instruction in nearly all academic subjects. An evolving
hub of electronic technology, the PACC houses over
70 Windows and Macintosh computers and contains a
variety of equipment, such as high-resolution scanners
and high-speed laser printers.
The PACC Lobby Resource
Center, located just outside the PACC, contains
nine Windows and Macintosh computers and a laser printer.
This lab is available as early as 7 a.m. for students
to print before class.
Microsoft Office,
which includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint,
is the academy standard and is loaded on all computers.
Other popular applications, such as Adobe Photoshop
and InDesign are installed on a number of specialized
machines. (See our complete list
of applications.) The PACC is staffed at
all times with technical professionals who provide
assistance to users; tip sheets and manuals are available
as references for all software programs.
