Training Opportunities |
The
Technology & Telecommunications department provides computer
training classes in a variety of applications to the faculty
and staff. The classes are offered on a regular basis during
the school year. The majority of classes are scheduled on
Wednesdays, in the afternoon for a 3 hour period of time.
All classes are held in the PA Computer Center in the basement
of the Library.
We
also hold separate "Technology Days" for faculty members who
are unable to make the regularly scheduled classes. The response
has been tremendous!
Training
suggestions are always welcome. Class schedules and changes
will be posted in the Gazette. For any questions, please call
X4357 or email helpdesk@andover.edu.
Please note, before you register for a class, you must
have the approval of your supervisor. If you are unable
to attend a class, please call X4357, 48hours in advance and
let us know. Thank you. |

Training Resources
|
-
Computer
Training Tapes are available at the Phillips
Academy Computer Center in the basement of the Library.
PA employees can take the training tapes on loan for up
to 2 weeks. This is a great way to learn a new software
package or to brush up on one you know well.
-
Handouts
- The PACC also has a variety of handouts on a number
of different computer subjects. In addition, there are
on-line tip sheets offered in the Resource section of
PAnet. The Polk Lilliard Center and PACC both offer supervised
assitance in the use of their equipment.
-
Tuition
Reimbursement is another ideal way to get the
training you need. Effective July 1, 2002, Phillips Academy
will reimburse staff members for training courses and/or
college courses when completion of the course is deemed
to be of future benefit to the employee and the academy
and/or is a requirement for a relevant undergraduate degree
or certificate program. These courses will generally be
taken during off hours. For more information refer to
Section 4.21 of the Staff Employee Handbook.
