The Technology help desk is available Monday - Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm. The help desk's primary responsibility is to answer questions regarding standard applications used on campus and to support academy owned computer equipment. Each department has a designated "key user" who should be consulted first, before calling the help desk. If the call cannot be addressed over the phone a work order will be initiated. Work orders are prioritized on the basis of time sensitivity and importance. We hope to provide extended help desk hours in the near future.


Computer Purchase (Special Laptop Offer)

Members of the Academy are encouraged to purchase computer equipment from whomever they wish. The only requirement is that the equipment meets the Academy's minimum standards for connectivity with the Academy network. Click here for more specific vendor information.

 

Computer Repair for personally owned computers (on campus)

The Techmasters group manages work orders for students personally owned computers. For liability reasons, no member of the Technology office, or Techmasters, can perform hardware installation or repair on any personally owned computer.

An outside repair service is available Thursday evenings from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, in a room adjacent to the PACC (Phillips Academy Computer Center), in the lower level of the Oliver Wendell Holmes Library. This is a billable service available to faculty, students and staff. The person is responsible for any and all costs associated with the repair. Payments must be COD and payable by Visa, MasterCard or personal check. Individuals are also responsible for dropping off their equipment at the repair center. Payments will be made directly to the vendor at the following billable rates:

Incident rates:
Desktop and laptop repair rate: $55.00/hr
Plus parts where needed.


Note: You will be required to present your ID when picking up your equipment. There is no pickup or delivery service to the dorms or faculty housing. Repairs are performed on a carry-in/carry-out basis.
