Technology Evolves And So Does Its Organizational Chart!
The Technology Office consists of three areas of focus. Our
most rapid growth is in the use of academic-related technologies,
so we expanded and organized resources to focus on user support
and instructional technology.
The
Information Systems team, led by
Judy Hoyt, focuses on application development, including Datatel,
PAnet, and Web delivery of information. This group ensures
the daily flow of information from Datatel to our Web applications
to allow for online schedules, student reporting systems and
courses.
The
Network and Systems Services team,
led by Chris Joel, focuses on networking, server management,
systems operations, and new and emerging technologies. We
recently upgraded to a state of the art server farm facility,
which houses approximately 50 plus servers. This group manages
all networking services including our domain, exchange servers,
firewall, internet access on multiple server platforms (Lotus
Domino, AIX, Microsoft Windows), and all voice and data communications
technology.
Our
third group, the Technology and Instructional
Support team is led by David Hasbany. This team’s
focus is on providing dedicated resources for faculty, staff,
and student support, instructional technology, and overall
coordination of the Technology
Learning Centers (PACC, Polk-Lillard Center, Language
Learning Center, Clift Record Library).
These
learning centers are provided to allow students, faculty and
staff access to computers and specialized applications in
multiple areas of campus. These centers are open varied hours,
7 days a week from 7:30am – 9:30pm.
Another
important part of the Technology and Instructional Support
team is the Help Desk. The Help Desk consists of individuals
dedicated to supporting all computers on campus (hardware
and software). They are currently available on an 8:00am –
5:00pm basis, but there are plans for expansion of these hours
to support our boarding community. This Help Desk group also
organizes a student run support group called the Techmasters.
Techmasters are available for support of personally owned
computers (software issues only).
