Leftover food from away athletic contests is donated to the Bread & Roses Community Kitchen in Lawrence. For twenty-two years, Bread & Roses has been providing free, nutritious meals to needy families and individuals from the Greater Lawrence area. In an average month, the kitchen serves approximately 5,200 meals. Bread & Roses relies solely on volunteer labor and on contributions from individuals, religious organizations, businesses, community groups, and private foundations.
The Sustainability Office and work duty students keep track of the leftover food and share the data with the community at the end of each season.
