What is Summer Opportunities?

The Summer Opportunities Office is a research center for planning a fruitful, fun summer.

The opportunities, either in the states or abroad, are in the areas of:

1. Academic programs, mostly on college campuses
2. Service and cross cultural programs
3. Adventure/wilderness programs
4. Internships and research
5. Jobs, mostly local
6. Language programs
7. Performing and visual arts programs

There are numerous resources--files, books, brochures, computer programs and Web sites, and a director to help guide students in these many choices. The center can be reached by phone at 978-749-4480 or e-mail rbarry@andover.edu

These opportunities are an important way for busy Phillips students to enrich their lives and resumes as they apply to colleges and jobs later on. Programs they participate in their lower (10th grade) and upper (11th grade) summers often direct student's choices of courses and even colleges to which they apply.

Every year we help plan a Summer Opportunities Fair in the upper Commons dining halls in early February. This is a great time to connect with the representatives of over 70 summer programs and pick up information. The Summer Opportunities Fair is open to our Phillips community and to the public.
