Welcome to the Division of Natural Sciences!
We hope these pages will help you to gain some sense of our curriculum. Through our ever-evolving program, we seek to enable all of our students to connect science to their lives and to the world around them, and to pursue further their interests in any field related to the sciences. We believe that many of the greatest opportunities and challenges facing humankind require people who are broadly educated and who also have special expertise in the sciences. Toward these ends, we have summarized the goals that we have for our students. As you browse through these pages, exploring our courses and Gelb Science Center, feel free to contact the faculty with questions that arise.
Best Wishes,
Patricia

Head of the Division of Natural Sciences
Students in an advanced Evolution and
Ecology class worked with Carlos Montanez, associate
director of maintenance and utilities, and instructor Lydia
Goetze to purchase and publicize the use of renewable energy
for Earth Day 2005. Phillips Academy was the only New England
high school to use renewable energy for Earth Day. The class
is shown in front of the new Gelb Science Center, planned
to emphasize sustainability in its materials, design, operation
and maintenance.
