Welcome to the Academic Support Center (ASC). Our goal is to lend support to students in an effort to help them attain their academic goals. We are now conveniently located in the Oliver Wendell Holmes Library on the second floor in the McLean Gallery. We meet with students by appointment during business hours (8-5). Appointments with ASC faculty can be arranged by contacting the secretary. Study, Organizational, and Time Management Skills The ASC faculty will meet with students individually to teach strategies for organizing work, managing time, and improving study skills. Subject Specific Tutoring Tutoring in individual courses is provided through the Peer Tutoring program. Qualified students for specific courses are available to provide tutoring on a regular weekly basis. Stop by our office to fill out a peer tutor request form for ongoing tutoring in a specific subject. You can also request a tutor online by going to the Academic Resources section on PAnet. Peer tutors are also available in the math study center on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00-9:15 p.m. and the science study center on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00-9:15 p.m. Both centers operate on the second floor of the Gelb science building. Students experiencing difficulty in a particular course should first seek help from the teacher of that course, and continue to do so even when working with ASC faculty or a peer tutor. More Information Students can find useful study tools and tips by going to the Academic Resources section on PAnet. |
