does a budding young movie star go when he wants to prepare for
the part of a superhero’s well-educated friend? Andover, of
course! James Franco, below, who plays the part of Harry Osborn,
high school buddy and college roommate to Peter Parker (a.k.a. Spider-Man)
in the summer action blockbuster movie Spider-Man, spent a day and
a half on campus in February 2001 getting a taste of prep school
life. Freddie Martignetti ’02, left, took Franco under his
wing, showing him that boarding school is not the grim, stuffy place
the actor had imagined.
Franco’s visit was arranged through the Office of Communica-tions,
which welcomed a chance to update Hollywood’s image
of Andover.
