PHILLIPS ACADEMY TO HOLD DAY STUDENT OPEN HOUSE

ANDOVER, Mass.— Phillips Academy will hold an open house for prospective day students and their families from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, in Cochran Chapel. The program will include a discussion of the application process, financial aid, life as a day student at Andover and life as a day student’s parent.

Campus tours will be available following the program. In addition, visitors are welcome to attend a student theatre production of "The Bad Seed" by Maxwell Anderson at 3 p.m. and to view the fall exhibitions at the Addison Gallery of American Art, open 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

Phillips Academy accepts new students in all grades, 9-12 and a postgraduate year. Students who live in the following towns and cities may apply to Andover as day students:

  • Massachusetts—Andover, Boxford, Bradford, Dracut, Georgetown, Groveland, Haverhill, Lawrence, Lowell, Lynnfield, Methuen, Middleton, North Andover, North Reading, Reading, Tewksbury, Wilmington;
  • New Hampshire—Atkinson, Pelham, Plaistow, Salem.

Phillips Academy, better known as Andover, is a coeducational independent high school of 1,087 students, known for its extensive and rigorous academic program. A diverse community of teachers and students, the academy was founded in 1778. Notable alumni include Oliver Wendell Holmes, President George W. Bush, former President George Bush, Dr. Benjamin M. Spock, John F. Kennedy Jr., actors Jack Lemmon and Dana Delany, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and author Julia Alvarez.
