ANDOVER, Mass. —Three PA students played at Carnegie Hall in the Third Annual American Fine Arts Festival on Saturday, January 28 at 1:30 p.m.
The students, Paul Joo ’08 (violinist), Jae Han ’06 (pianist), and Kevin Olusola ’06 (cellist), earned the right to perform by winning a musical competition that pitted them against other music students from across the nation. The competition was open to soloists and chamber groups who play Mozart chamber pieces. Kevin and Jae each performed a solo, while all three students performed together as a trio, playing the Mozart Piano Trio, K. 564, Allegretto movement.
To prepare for the competition and their Carnegie Hall debut, the students practiced with a former chamber music and piano faculty member from the New England Conservatory as well as with PA adjunct Duncan Cumming.
Getting the opportunity to play in the festival this year was especially meaningful for the students as the festival celebrated the 250th birthday of Mozart.
