Jean Sweeney, a registered nurse and resident of Andover, died at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Mass., Dec. 29 after a short illness. She had worked for 26 years at Isham Infirmary. “With her warm and gentle sense of humor, she will be sorely missed by her colleagues and students alike,” said Richard Keller, medical director.
Born and raised in Manchester, N.H., she attended Sacred Heart Nursing, also in Manchester. Family members said she dedicated her life to helping others.
Jean leaves her husband, John “Jack” Sweeney, three children, Marilyn Sweeney of Lawrence, John “Jack” Sweeney Jr. and his wife Lisa of Hooksett, N.H., and Eileen Coco and her husband David of Methuen. She also leaves two sisters, one brother, four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Hospital Cancer Management Program.
