ANDOVER, Mass.— At the final All-School Meeting (ASM) of the year on Wednesday, May 24, the faculty presented awards and prizes to the following students:
Daniel Silk ’07 — The David Spencer Hackett Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of a member of the Class of 1961, who played a central role in the successful introduction of Outward Bound into the United States. A Marine officer in Vietnam, David Hackett was killed in action while attempting to save one of his men. In his memory, a scholarship is awarded annually to an Upper Middler for an Outward Bound Program during the summer.
Renee Amirault ’07 and Claire Voegele ’07 — The Mark Larner Fellowship honors the memory of a member of the Class of 1969 who was killed in a climbing accident during his senior year. The purpose of this Fellowship is to enable an Andover Senior or Upper Middler who has demonstrated significant ability in the creative arts to continue creative work during summer vacation.
Alexandra Rahman ’08, Simone Salvo ’08, and Sophia Lee ’09 — The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Award is an endowment established to recognize and encourage service towards social change offered in the spirit of Dr. King.
Olivia Wang ’07 and Prateek Kumar ’07 — The Winton Volunteership Program encourages students to work in community-based self-help efforts and, by doing so, come to a deeper understanding of and concern for the problems facing underdeveloped communities either in the United States or abroad.
Haruka Maruyama ’06 — The Richard J. Phelps Summer Award supports a Phillips Academy graduate in the summer after his or her graduation for community service, work, or travel. Special preference is given to those young people who opt to work in an inner-city environment in the United States.
Brendan de Brun ’06, Lindsay Agostinelli ’07, and Simone Salvo ’08 — Sullivan Prizes are awarded annually to members of the Senior, Upper Middle, and Lower Middle classes who made the greatest improvement in scholarship during the previous school year.
Marie Lechtarova ’06 — The Van Duzer Prize is awarded to a member of the Senior class on the basis of high scholarship up to the close of the student's Upper Middle year.
Berol Dewdney ’07 — The Wells Prize is awarded to a member of the Junior class who has displayed the outstanding qualities of loyalty, perseverance, and sterling character which characterized the person in whose memory this prize is given.
Charles Hollis’08 — The Keyes Prize is awarded to a student who, in the Lower Middle year, shows outstanding qualities of character, leadership, scholarship, and athletic ability.
Zhongrui Yin ’07 — The Andover Club Prize is awarded to an outstanding member of the Upper Middle class who combines excellence in scholarship with achievement in other fields.
Anna Boylan’07 — The Stiles Prize is awarded to the member of the Upper Middle class whose judgment and loyalty to the school have been exemplary.
Andrew Faulkner ’07, Lindsay Agostinelli ’07, Rebecca Agostino ’07 — The Lorant Fellowship for Most Earnest Endeavor seeks to recognize Andover students who, through sheer determination and effort, have demonstrated the desire to succeed.
Jamie Love ’06 — The Achievement Prize is awarded to a member of the Senior class who has been a student at Andover for at least two years and who has exhibited great personal and academic achievement.
Caroline Towbin ’06 — The Ayars Prize is awarded to a member of the Senior class who, through work, perseverance, and seeking after excellence, has established a position of respect and admiration in the school community.
Kassie Archambault ’06 — The Fuller Prize is awarded to a member of the Senior class who, having been at Andover at least two years, has best exemplified and upheld in his or her life and work at Andover the ideals and traditions of the school.
Andrew Ostroff ’06 — The Isabel Maxwell Hancock Award is awarded to a Senior who has shown depth of understanding, sensitivity, response to the needs of others, and concern for the welfare of all.
Fahad Missmar’06 — The Richard Jewett Schweppe Prize is awarded to a member of the Senior class in recognition of an unusual spirit of cooperation and friendliness.
Katherine Adams’06 — The Abbot Stevens Prize is awarded to a member of the Senior class who, by virtue of character and leadership, has made a significant contribution to the Academy and to other members of the class.
Jonathan Figueroa ’06 — The Kingsbury Prize is awarded to a student of outstanding character who is especially distinguished for perseverance and resolution.
Alyssa Hill ’06 — The Abbot Athletic Award is awarded annually to a girl who has excelled in varsity sports and whose loyalty and good sportsmanship exemplify the highest ideals of Andover athletics.
Melissa Tetreau ’06 — The Schubert Key is awarded annually to a member of the Senior Class who has excelled in varsity athletics and who has exemplified the qualities of sound character, cheerfulness, and good sportsmanship on the athletic field.
Julie Wadland ’06 and Joseph Lokitis ’06 — The Press Club Award is awarded to a boy and a girl who have shown through their performances on the athletic fields that they have been the most capable athletes of the past year.
Martha Schnure ’06 and Matthew Yeager ’06 — The Phelps Award is awarded to those student athletes whose sportsmanship, loyalty, humility, and commitment to the success of others is representative of Richard J. Phelps and Phillips Academy athletics.
Thomas Dignard ’06 — The Raymond T. Tippett Memorial Award is presented annually to a Senior member of the varsity football or baseball team whose loyalty, courage, and modesty exemplify the character of Ray Tippett and the best traditions of Andover athletics. Established in 1962 by members of the class of 1945 for a prize in memory of their classmate, Raymond T. Tippett. |
