SYA to Host Admissions Reception on Oct. 19

 October 11, 2006

ANDOVER, Mass. — School Year Abroad (SYA), a full-year study abroad opportunity for high school juniors and seniors, will be hosting an admissions reception for PA students in Lexington, MA on Thursday, October 19 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The reception will allow students and parents to learn more about SYA and to meet members of the admissions team, as well as recent alumni and their parents.

SYA is a non-profit education organization that operates four schools in Beijing, China; Rennes, France; Viterbo, Italy and Zaragoza, Spain. Unlike a traditional exchange program where students attend a local high school, SYA students attend our own SYA schools which run very much like a U.S. independent school. Small classes, professional faculty, interdisciplinary curriculum, college counseling and college testing (PSAT, SAT, AP) are integral parts of our rigorous educational program, designed so that high-achieving high school students do not “lose a year” or fall behind academically.

Another component of SYA is the homestay. Each student is carefully placed in a local host family for the full academic year. SYA also organizes school travel within the host country to complement the curriculum. This is a great way to give meaning to what is being learned in the classroom.

To learn more about the sites, curriculum, extracurricular activities, financial aid and admissions requirements, we hope that you will plan to join us on October 19. Please RSVP to 978.725.6828-ext. 11 or mail@sya.org.
